Habemus Niculescu

My fingers wrote initially "NiculSecu", but that's rather unfair, as I don't have any knowledge or proof of his association with the Securitate or even SRI (the Romanian secret services). And I'm glad that we finally have a prime minister, really: I do wish him best of luck! But why did it take so long and what do the chattering classes say?

  • Lots of links attempting to reflect and summarize the entire political spectrum (minus the idiots).
  • My not-so-humble opinion on what has been happening and this government.

Another version for the title would be “Halimos Niculescu”, but that version would only make sense to “Swedish natives”, such as Ciolacusson and Simionsson and their close relative, Søren Grindengaard (heretofore known as President of the Chamber of Deputities and PSD leader Sorin Grindeanu) who wanted PNL gone, until they actually left for good, and then wanted them to stay in the government, like a demented, hysterical, unreliable boyfriend.

If you’re mystified on what the title is all about, Popes are elected in long, complicated and opaque process, which may involve testing for testes, and when a result is achieved, white smoke bellows and the Latin phrase is uttered. Before this PM, several more tried their hand at prime-ministering, and most were met with PSD refusal. How did we get here?

We now know that Grindengaard (or Grindensson, not much of a difference for the artist formerly known as Grindeanu) has met with Trump’s representative (a now fired Guilfoyle) who prompted him to break the coalition PSD had with PNL (taking turns at premiership) and cause Bolojan’s government to fall. He thought he could become a PM himself, but this is the same Grindengaard who caused his government to fall when he passed a pro-Dragnea and pro-corruption law about a decade ago. Luckily, the president didn’t nominate him but the whole crisis took extremely long, at significant political and economic costs (uncertainty is very bad for business, and Romania has been changing its laws too quickly already). When he got Bolojan out, he said that he should go ASAP and wondered why he’s holding on to power. When PNL said they’re moving into opposition, he wanted them to share the burden. In short, he thought he could dictate who’s the leader of PNL and through some of his nominations, Nicusor Dan (the president) appeared to play his game.

Another “oscillation” of PSD is criticizing Bolojan’s government for attempting to privatize some public enterprises, but now declaring that the Niculescu government will do so (with the proviso that they’ll sell only the bad ones, as if foreign investors buy crap). It’s all about extracting bribes for selling public wealth.

Anyways, the next year will be very difficult for Romania, a country that is already in a recession, as felt by the average Joe (or Ion). The new government will have to make serious, unpopular cuts, or lose funding (a big deal for the leeching class) and credit worthiness, and I don’t see these “Swedes” capable of anything other than theft and bribery. Bolojan made some mistakes: I think he should’ve made unprepared / raw food tax-free rather than increase taxes, as it is elsewhere and should have focused on tax evasion – that’s where the money is, that’s what Bulgaria did and that’s what Romania inexplicably (unless we accept that this is a kleptocracy designed around stealing European funds) refuses to do.

I typically watch Recorder News daily summaries and not much else, but this time I wanted to see with how this news was covered by the “mainstream visual media” (yt-search) yesterday: guv, obs, g4m, enr, a3c, gnd, ptv, lbt, hnr, b1t-ctp and continue with Informat below.
